With a combined total of 4 and a half hours sleep we both looked a little worse for wear, McDonalds breakfast and Red Bull on the way helped us a wake up a little!

The clouds seemed to be lifting as we got closer to QR we both had our fingers and toes crossed for a dry day filled with skids with mates. Who ever controls the weather kind of agreed with us…. but thought it would be fun to fit the four seasons into one day. Cold and over cast followed with rain then hot as sunshine followed with freezing rain.

However the changing conditions meant most people only needed one set of tyres and tested their skill on a dry, patchy and wet track.

I spent most of the morning playing passenger run musical chairs, but still managed to take 700 photos. A few of which you can see below!

Tayno had his entries into turn 1 dialled clocking 120km an hour!

Morgish was showing great constancy! With only a few track days under his belt after the engine swap its easy to tell Morgish hasn’t let a prolonged period of time off affect his driving!

Nick spent the days before hand frantically  putting his car back together so he could slide on Sunday, the last piece of the puzzle being a radiator cap that I delivered on Sunday morning.

Wills daily has seen more action than his track car!

Will struggled with understeer a lot during the day but put in a lot of solid laps! The daily is slowly turning into a dedicated track car, next on the list some tyres that grip up front!

Part way through the day I got a bit bored and decided to climb a tree…

The view wasn't as clear as I hoped.

Apparently noise restrictons aren’t a problem in the QR car park as this 20 valve corolla made more noise than… well matty_b’s old sil.

It was loud, but preformed awesome!

Despite the changing weather it was a great day out!

A huge thanks has to go out to Tristan and Steve for making the day possible and Flynn (I think) for working the start line.

As it turns out the answer to that was smoother than Wills’ shinny head. (<3) It was a night of first for many things. Hachi Tom and Evan both lost their drifting V-Plates in style!

Unfortunately I didn’t get and photos of Evans car but the condition of the front end at the nights conclusion told a story of someone learning the only way hit and hope!

It was also 84KIN’s (I have already forgotten your name sorry!) first trip to Archerfield raceway, in his sil80 although you wouldn’t be able to tell with the way he was driving!

More proof of deception!

Will’s new daily made its track debut on the night, this car fills the void whilst his blue sil remains lost in the Bermuda Triangle that is Tamborine mountain.

Its not as pretty as the blue one but he can still slide it!

In a new time slot and with new owners no one was sure what to expect when we rolled through the gates, but last night proved to be one of the most relaxed, easy to co-ordinate nights that we have run, things went so smoothly that we didn’t even need some one on start line :O

Apparently these guys are clever enough to start themselves!

The few times drivers found a tire wall it wasn’t long before there was someone there re-stacking them, usually the driver that hit it!

All in all it was a brilliant first night back with Nizz-Pro proving to be great new management!

The calais was there as normal

Trent was back in the communal calais quieter than ever, its resilience proved once again surviving both Tomfiro and Hachi Tom steering it too!

Im not sure if you guys have noticed…. But every picture i take of Trent, he has the exact same facial expression… weird.

Tweeters RB20 ceff still loves life! Tweeter slides this so hard he had the turbo glowing red hot on the night.

Trent had a little trouble sticking to Zacs door, the NA Sil just didn’t have enough speed, with his new engine in i’m sure it will be a different story!

Comet

Kyle made an appearance in ‘Comet’ only to have a throttle cable destroy itself before the nights end cutting his track time. Hopefully he will make it through our next event with out any problems.

With a fresh hydro Wacky put his R31 through its paces it may be NA but it still loves 2nd!

Zacs car is still the picture of reliability.

Zac’s S14 is still the picture of reliability, with him stopping less than most cars there and using only 1 pair of tires for the night!

Goodbye semi slicks!

We had missed the heats but made it there just in time for the finals, which was good as we got to see some nice close battles! Especially in the Pro Class.

Rob ended the day on top but Josh took the championship, with Eugene in the runner up position then Rob and Danny tying for third!

The Street class was up next, with SuperGlory! members Chris (thy32) and Kyle both sliding.

A poor first run cost Kyle a chance of taking the Street class, but Chris managed two good runs taking the class for the day, Congratulations.

All in all it was a good day, we are all rather burnt, but it was worth it to catch up with mates and watch some excellent sliding!

But there are some out there who like to slide on a smaller scale… a 1/10th scale to be precise. A few of the guys that live in my street have developed a  strong interest in RC drifting. Chris who also makes the SuperGlory! stickers runs SuperGlory! decals on his cars, and personally I think it looks rather sexy!

Chris entered a drifting comp at Concept Hobbies a week ago, where chris won overall for the day winning himself a new S15 RC car.

It was a good turn out but a few less cars than normal, that just meant the line ups where shorter!

16 cars on track..... quick turn around!

After sleeping in and thinking I was going to be late I replaced breakfast with 4 cans of Red Bull, this came back to haunt me about midday when I started feeling like I’d been on an all night bender, this wasn’t the greatest but skids made it worth while!!

Anyways, I managed to make it to QR at a perfect time with the drivers briefing just about to start .

So the day got underway, instead of taking photos like i was supposed to i jumped into the calais with Trent. Two laps in and Trents’ awesome luck reared its head again. We spun on turn six, the bang was un-missable but Trent still had to ask “Dude what was that?” Me, “Dunno man something broke, maybe tie rod end” Trent: “FFFFuuuuu thats the tie rod end I bought from you!!”

Well turns out I was off the hook anyway  as Trents coilover had decided it no longer loved life and went back to the big chinese coilover heaven.

China love!

This resulted in a quick trip to Dan’s house to get his coilovers so we could swap them at the track. Quickest coilover change ever! (Shameless self plug lol)

It was worth it to as Trent spent the rest of the session improving in leaps and bounds!

SuperGlory are bringing to you another PRIVATE track night which will be held on Friday September 10th. It’s almost that time again! V5 is just around the corner! Open to all SuperGlory staff and members! We are limiting the number of drivers to 10 and this limit will be enforced. This will ensure there is adequate track time for every participant. As you are all aware, SuperGlory! aims to be a fun, friendly, welcoming environment for all skills of drifters. We will run an introduction with a driver briefing then drifting will follow! There will be prizes awarded on the night for a few fun/different competitions!

I browsed the list of entered earlier tonight and it looks like everyone driving is a track night veteran! I hope this means we are doing something right and you guys keep coming back in the future!

This will be the first SuperGlory night with a ten car limit, but after attending Vances’ supremacy nights, we all know this is a winning formula!

As per usual there will be a gold coin donation for all those who wish to spectate. This money goes straight back into the website and helps with securing future track nights, so make sure your mates make a quality donation

All of the regular SuperGlory merchandise will be available, as well as a limited run of stickers and shirts from the competitions that we are currently running! So if you want a nice new shirt, make sure you vote for your favorite so you get to buy the one you love on the night!

Big things are currently in the works for SuperGlory, so make sure you watch this space, as I will be updating it a lot more often!!

As usual there was a 10 car line up meaning that there was plenty of track time for everyone!

Although fun for all this night was not smooth sailing for all those who attended. Vances car lasted only a few laps before the gearbox called it a day, Even when broken Vances’ car still managed too look good on the sidelines.

Stopels car made which was making its debut to track, suffered from a over heating, at tie rod end coming undone and blew fuses all night! Despite these problems Stopel worked hard and skidded as much as possible, still using two sets of tyres through the night!

MattyB’s car was also making its track debut, well in its current form anyway! Fresh from the tuners now making 270+hp Matt was keen to make the most of Vances night, however electrical problem’s after his tyres scrubbed on the loom his night was at an end after only a few hours!

Stopel loves it this much!

For the other drivers on the night, problems where few and far between, for some running out of tyres to destroy would be the biggest problem of the night!!

Despite the problems of a few the night was still a great success! With plenty of track time for everyone, and a great chance for everyone to hang out and enjoy the scent of burning tyres, something we all love!

Tell us a bit about yourself and how you got into drifting:

I love drinking beers, playing CSS and doing skids of course. Tomfiro got me into drifting back when we were in school, we all got into imports around the same time. I brought my silvia around the same time Tomfiro got his cefiro! But I was a slack ass and never got my licence. I used to love going for passenger runs in his RB20E powered cefiro, some of the most fun I have ever had…despite being slightly scary. Eventually I got over watching other people skid there cars and decided to plunge into the import world myself. Since then I have spent all my money on my car/doing skids and I haven’t looked back since.

Where did your love of cars come from?:

Definitely my mates…Don’t really remember being into cars at a young age. I started going to car shows and events during the school years and it went from there. Went up to QR to watch a drift event and have been hooked on the drift ever since.

Tell us a bit about the famous Rivergum, you’re S13 Calais:

I purchased my S13 of a friend, at that time the paint was peeling and it was CA18DE Auto. My first purchase was coilovers, and then the old faithful CA decided to seize on the highway. I decided to convert from CA to SR, and after a little while the SR20DE threw the towel in as well. By this time I had converted it to manual and shimmed the diff. I was then lucky enough to ask a neighbour of mine (One that doesn’t hate me for my loud car.) what he was doing with his silvia, when he told me I could buy the engine. This is my current engine and it’s still going strong, however – this won’t stay in for long as forged SR20DET is in the build!

We’ve heard your car has the nickname of the “Communal VL” or “S13 Calais”, how did it get this name?:

Haha. My car gets shared around a little bit at track nights. When my friend’s cars aren’t running, I don’t like them to miss out – so I give them a few laps in the old Calais.

If you could have any car what would you have?:

A manual JZX100 would be my ideal daily driver… 4 doors, plenty of power, VIP looks, and much more cop friendly than a rivergum s13!

What is your favourite track and why?:

Archerfield of course!!! I have only ever slid at QR once, which was when I first started drifting on track… but the NA SR prefers the smaller, shorter, and tighter corners of the go-kart track. Although, I would love to give QR another go now that I have a bit more experience drifting.

What do you do in your spare time?:

Drink beers, work on my mates cars and my own – hang out with my mates and play CSS.

What is your biggest personal achievement within motor sport to date?:

The few times I have come back from a track night without breaking shit! As most will know, I don’t have the best luck at track nights – I tend to go all out when on the track and try to push harder with each lap… which usually results in things breaking, bending, denting, or knocking…

What’s your favourite thing about Drifting?:

The atmosphere, the mates, the good times, and of course that awesome feeling of going sideways towards tyre walls and the like.

What are your plans for next year?:

Have the turbo conversion done, drift more, and break less shit.
